Although for some cultures obesity was always a symbol of beauty and power, over the centuries it came to be seen as a condition associated with being overweight and the excessive accumulation of adipose tissue in the body. As a consequence of it, diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, respiratory problems, arthritis, stroke, gastrointestinal problems, skin problems and cancer can arise.
At the end of the 20th century, due to the lack of proper eating habits and little knowledge about our metabolism, a large part of the world's population suffered from obesity. In North America alone, more than 30% of its population became overweight. In Europe, like many other countries, as a consequence of the increase in its economic benefits and the great variety of fast food, the panorama was also critical and very similar.
The methods to combat obesity over time and their effectiveness have been mainly psychological help, abstinence from gluttony, the use of appropriate diets, walking practices, psychophysical activities and some sports. Being these until today the best way to eliminate overweight and thus provide us with health as well as a better quality of life and happiness for all.
